The Firewall menu gives an overview on the current configuration of the Windows Firewall (meaning it doesn't have its own firewall) and allows you to change the settings if necessary.
Avira Free Antivirus 2015 includes a Game Mode, a function that's useful for optimizing resource consumption during a gaming session. There are certain features, like the email scanner and web protection, that are visible in the interface but unfortunately are only available in the paid version.
A usable interface with an outdated design
The interface of Avira Free Antivirus 2015 remains unchanged from last year's design. Although its structure provides excellent usability, an updated design would definitely be welcome.
The antivirus offers a good degree of configurability with several advanced options for more advanced users. The default configuration, however, is perfect for those who are less experienced.
